Police cruiser hit during crash investigation

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police cruiser was rear-ended while at the scene of a serious accident along Marvin Road late Monday night.

CMPD said the officer was not hurt, but the accident they were there investigating sent four people to the hospital.

Medic told WBTV they responded to a single car that had rolled over on Marvin Road just shy of the Johnston Road crossing in south Charlotte just before midnight.

At first, one of the persons in the car was reported to have life-threatening injuries, but was upgraded once the victim arrived at Carolinas Medical Center.

All four people are expected to survive.

Right now, it's not clear what lead up to the original crash.  Johnston Road was closed in both directions for hours while investigators tried to determine exactly what happened.
