City leaders approve $1.9 Billion budget

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Charlotte City leaders approved a $1.9 billion budget.

That budget includes a property tax increase to help pay for $816 million in Capital improvements.

At Monday night's meeting, city council also adopted changes to the City Manager's recommended budget including $250,000 to study the LYNX Red Line Commuter Rail. Other jurisdictions are also expected to contribute to paying for the study.

Services such as police, fire, solid waste, CATS and Charlotte Douglas International Airport are also included in the budget.
