Police: Suspect identified in fatal Steele Creek shooting

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have arrested a man they believe to be responsible for shooting two people, killing one.

Joshua Donyell Walker, 26, was arrested Saturday after evidence gathered during the investigation.

The shooting happened Friday night on the 1100 block of Nations Drive in the Steele Creek Division around 10 p.m.

Steele Creek officers responded to the scene and found a male and female with gunshot wounds. The male, later identified as David Michael Lofton, 30, died on scene.

The female victim was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with non serious injuries.
