CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - There's a BOLO-- be on the lookout for two armed men who robbed a check cashing store in South Charlotte.
The Express Mart isn't and easy place to find. It's tucked behind a gas station on the corner of Arrowood and Nations Ford.
But the lure of easy money at a business that deals in cash brought two men to the small office just before closing time.
"When they came in, they started kicking this (office) door," said Detective Marty Cuthbertson.
It startled the female working behind a glass window.
"And then they took a gun and pointed it underneath the glass. They threatened to shoot her. She feared for her life. It's a tiny little room and she let them in."
Once in, they went to work. From surveillance photos, one of the robbers was wearing a camouflage suit with a yellow cloth over his head and face.
As they reached into the already open safe, the female clerk reached for her cell phone. Suddenly, they crooks turned violent.
"He grabbed her from behind and put her in a headlock and kind of forced her to the ground."
She wasn't injured but the men got away with what police describe as a substantial amount of cash.
"We've had some similar robberies like around Nations Ford Road-- same kind of guys-- two black males, one muscular, one slim build and wearing that camouflage clothing which is kind of real distinctive."
"One thing we do know, somebody observed them, they were driving a gray colored Honda."
