Father of murdered toddler: "Me and my family, we're hurting"

Hello. It's Thursday, May 30. This is Christine Nelson writing you this email from the newsroom. I wanted you to get a first look at the stories we will be talking about when you tune in to WBTV News This Morning. We're on the air from 4:30-7:00 a.m. If you're reading this on your smartphone, computer or tablet we're also streaming live on the web.

A terrible accident to tell you about that happened while you were sleeping. Seven people were killed while driving on the interstate in New York. We have details on exactly what happened.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Speaking of the interstate...we have lane closures on I-85 in Charlotte to warn you about. And we're also giving you a heads up on the extensive work being done right now on the I-77 north ramp if you're coming into Charlotte from I-485 and Rea Road.

Emotional words in the courtroom before the jury decided the fate of a man who killed a toddler. We'll let you hear what was said to Ellis Royster after he was convicted of pulling the trigger and killing a toddler while in his stroller.

Another name is in the ring for the race to become Charlotte's next mayor. But it didn't come as a huge surprise. We'll tell you who, on the Republican side, wants your vote to run the Queen City.

I have to get to the set now.

See you on the air!

Christine
