Overnight: Vote puts streetcar project back on track

Good morning, it's May 29! It's Christine Nelson sending you this quick email from my desk in the newsroom. There is a lot to go over with you this morning. These are the stories making headlines when you turn on WBTV News This Morning. We're on from 4:30-7:00 a.m. And we're also streaming live on the web. Go to wbtv.com and click the "WATCH LIVE" link.

We told you we would keep a close eye on the Charlotte city council vote on the embattled streetcar project. This morning we have the results! A majority of Charlotte city council voted in favor of moving forward on the project. It has to do with the fact there's a revised plan on how to pay for it. WBTV's Cam Man Ron Lee is live with reaction to the vote and what moving forward means for Charlotte commuters.

EXCLUSIVE: Only our cameras were there when a NASCAR driver's garage was raided and what police say they found among Mike Harmon's belongings totally contradicts what he told WBTV in an exclusive interview. We'll have the video of the raid you'll see only on WBTV.

JUST IN: Michelle Bachmann, who ran for president in the last election, just made a big announcement about her political future. We'll reveal it at the top of the 5 a.m. hour so make sure you're watching.

And stay through our 6 a.m. hour for all new stories!

Gotta go!

See you on the air,
