CMPD investigates burglaries in south Charlotte neighborhood

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) want you to pay closer attention to your home, car, and your neighborhood, as the weather gets warmer.

Police detectives say over the weekend they saw two residential burglaries in the same south Charlotte neighborhood.

WBTV spoke with a man in the Winding Brook neighborhood who says two laptops were stolen from his car.

"It (crime) doesn't happen very often, but it does happen occasionally," said neighbor Dr. Allen Melvin.

CMPD officers with the South Division sent out a tweet on Memorial Day, urging neighbors to pay closer attention to their surroundings and belongings. Early Monday morning, police say someone stole golf clubs from another neighbor's garage.

"It's the sign of the times, we need to keep things locked up," Melvin said.

CMPD detectives urge neighbors to join a Neighborhood Watch program. For more information, you can visit CMPD, by clicking here.
