Six Dead In Texas Tornadoes; Powerball Now At $475 Million

It's Thursday, 16 May 2013, and it's time to turn on your television...a lot of important news to tell you about on WBTV News This Morning.  John Carter of the WBTV News morning team reporting to you here.

We are working on getting more information on breaking news out of Texas this morning.  At least six people are confirmed dead after tornadoes ripped through North Texas.  The sheriff in Hood County says the six dead were in the worst-hit city of Granbury, where a twister hit two neighborhoods last night.

No one won the $360 Million Powerball Jackpot last night...so the new jackpot figure is at a staggering $475 million this morning.  The next drawing will be Saturday.

New Orleans police say the suspect in the Mother's Day parade shooting that left 19 people wounded has been taken into custody. 19-year-old Akein Scott was arrested last night in the Little Woods section of eastern New Orleans.

Police say a man dressed as a woman...has held up a second bank in Charlotte.  The first robbery happened just six days ago.  Cam Man Ron Lee is getting information on this latest robbery and will have more details in a live report.

South Carolina state representative Ted Vick is out of jail this morning...following his second arrest on drunk driving charges.
