Billy Graham Association: IRS targeted us, too

President Barack Obama has ordered an investigation into the growing IRS Scandal and WBTV has learned the Billy Graham Evangelical Association may have been targeted as well.

lawmakers blamed ineffective management Tuesday at the IRS for allowing agents to target tea party groups and other conservative groups when they applied for tax exempt status.

Officials say this went on for 18 months and late Tuesday, WBTV discovered the BGEA says it was targeted.

Franklin Graham wrote a letter to the President say the scrutiny extended to religious organizations as well -- including the BGEA and Samaritan's Purse.

According to the letter, the audits happened last fall. Graham believes the audits happened after his organization ran newspaper ads last spring supporting conservative causes.

In the letter, Graham told the president, "I do not believe that the IRS audit of our two organizations last year was a coincidence or justifiable."

He also called them quote, "chilling."

Graham also the audit was "morally wrong and unethical --indeed some would call it "un-American."

He urged the President to take action. Obama has instructed Treasury Secrety Jack Lew to launch a full investigation.
