PSI Monday: When the waters rise

Mecklenburg County, NC (WBTV) -  It was some of the worst flooding we've seen since Hurricane Frances in 2004. Homes were inundated. Docks, hot tubs and park benches were swept down stream after the headwaters of the Catawba River were hit as much as 11" of rain.

Duke Energy says it did a good job minimizing the impact two weeks ago.  Many property owners aren't convinced and some say they didn't get proper warnings.

"I got my flood warning on my Droid after we saw the water," said Mountain Island Lake homeowner Cathy Roche. "That came late and I don't quite know why that was."

Slow warnings were only part of the problem.  Duke Energy was also dealing with a potentially bigger issue just as the water coming down the mountain was peaking.

It's a "Problem Solver Investigation" Monday night on WBTV News at 11:00.
