Bridging the digital divide

Many of us take for granted the easy access we have to the Internet and other digital technology.  However, there are many Americans who still don't have the access, skills or technology to get online.

That's where the EveryoneOn campaign kicks in to bridge the digital divide. The campaign is partnering with Connect 2 Compete which lets you know if you are qualified for low-cost computers and discounted high-speed Internet. You can also check out for more information about bridging the digital divide.

In a study conducted by the Knight School of Communication at Queens University of Charlotte, on average 16% of Charlotte-Mecklenburg residents are not using the Internet.  That number increases to 22% among Blacks and 26% among Hispanics.

Dr. Eric Freedman, Dean of  the Knight School of Communication at Queens University, visited WBTV News Sunday Morning to talk about the campaign.
