Man arrested for stealing diesel engines from work, police say

A Statesville man was arrested for stealing two diesel engines from his place of work, according to a release from the Troutman Police Department.

Sanchez Brown, 38, was arrested after an investigation was completed by the Troutman Police Criminal Investigative Unit into a report that the two Detroit Diesel engines were stolen from a local company.

The engines were reported to be worth $72,000. They were recovered undamaged in Spartanburg, S.C., with the assistance of Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, police told WBTV.

Police say a second person was arrested by SCSO in relation to this crime.

Brown confessed to the crime and was charged with felony larceny by employee and conspiracy to commit larceny. He was placed under a $2,500 secured bond.
