Police in Charlotte say they have arrested a man in connection to an east Charlotte shooting Friday night.
Demarcus Martel Melvin, 23, is charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to a news release from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
He is currently in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office where he will remain.
Police responded to the call around 9 p.m. Friday night on the 6200 block of Old Meadow Road.
When officers arrived on scene, they located a male subject suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to CMC-Main where he was pronounced deceased Saturday morning at 6:47 a.m. as a result of his injures. The victim has been identified as Terrance Mingo.
Detective have determined that an altercation occurred between the victim and unknown suspect at another location. The suspect then confronted the victim at the 6200 block Old Meadow Road and a further altercation ensued. The suspect then shot the victim and fled in a gray Chevrolet Impala.
