(FOX19) -

How do you book your flights and vacations?  Do you use discount travel websites, or do you go right to the airline?  Frontier Airlines has launched a new program that could cost you if you don't book through them, and bring a carry-on.

"I think it's absolutely crazy.  I think that the carrier should not charge that because we have to charge for our bag anyway to get on," said New York resident, Ashley Wilson.

Frontier will start flying out of CVG in about two weeks.  The new fees kick in this summer for those booking with third parties, and not Frontier directly.  Those fees start at $25.

"If you check in online at our website before you get to the airport, that's also $25.  And then, as you get further in the airport then those fees go up with $100 being the fee for at the gate," said Kate O'Malley, a spokesperson for the airline.

One traveler told FOX19 she has flown with Frontier before, but doesn't like the idea of these fees.

"They need to make that really clear when you're booking through one of the other sites.  To me, that's crazy.  I understand the charging of checking in a bag, but for overhead carry-on, I don't know," said Kendall Milici, who lives in Arizona.

When you get on an airplane, overhead space in one of those bins is really at a premium.  That's part of the reason why Frontier is asking their passengers to bring less when they get on the plane, and because they're starting to hear complaints from some of their most loyal customers.

"They've made it very clear that finding overhead bin space for carry-on bags has become increasingly difficult, and it's a common complaint from passengers who are required to gate-check their carry-on bags once overhead space is filled," O'Malley added.

O'Malley told us the airline will do everything they can to alert passengers to these new costs, and that's enough for one flyer to change her habits.

We asked, "When you want to fly Frontier, how do you book?"

Milici answered, "Usually Travelocity."

When asked if these fees would change her mind about how she books her flights, she replied, "Yes."

To be clear, you can still get your carry-on for free, as long as you book directly through the airline.  You can also bring a personal item for free as long as it fits under your seat.

The airline will also begin charging $2 for drinks like soda and coffee.  That starts July 1.
