Man charged with shooting another man during a fight in Lenoir

LENOIR, NC (WBTV) -

Police in Lenoir say a man is behind bars after he shot another man in a car.

The incident was reported at 9:11 p.m. on Wednesday along the 100 block of Ellison Place, according to the report from the Lenoir Police Department.

Joseph Matthew Golds Jr., 49, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and discharging a weapon into occupied property.

Police say Golds and 46-year-old Derek Shea Enloe got into a physical confrontation that ended in Golds shooting Enloe, according to the report.

Enloe was found by police with a gunshot wound to his shoulder. He was taken to Caldwell Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.

Golds had left in an unknown direction in a vehicle prior to Officers arrival.   

Police tracked him to a home on Pisgah Church Road and arrested and taken to the hospital to get checked out for a hand injury he suffered in the fight.

Golds was placed in the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $150,000 secure bond.
