A soggy Saturday, Sunday and beyond

Cool, moist air is spilling into the Carolinas this weekend triggering a lot of rain as an area of low pressure moves along a stalled frontal boundary.

Sunday, upper level disturbances begin to trek along the stalled front, and rain chances increase significantly, with heavy downpours possible.

An isolated thunderstorm will be possible in the mountains.

Heavy downpours could result in localized areas receiving as much as three inches or more of rain by the time this system exits.

Given the cloud cover and rain, highs will remain significantly below normal both days this weekend.

The story line doesn't change much for the start of your work week, and it looks like the rain may not exit the region until late Monday.
