A suspect accused of stealing a donation jar was tracked in the woods by using thermal imaging technology, according to authorities.
Police say Joshua Bunner, 26, and Ellis Edwards, 20, entered the Speedway station on Northbend Road in Hebron on March 17. Surveillance reportedly caught Bunner sliding a Children's Miracle Network donation jar under his shirt, while Edwards distracted the clerk.
Less than an hour later, the suspects returned to the Speedway and allegedly stole a second donation jar.
Store personnel recognized the two suspects as regular customers, but were unable to identify them.
Investigators received tips from Crime Stoppers indicating Bunner had been living in the woods on CVG airport property. On Thursday, authorities located him using thermal imagers.
Bunner reportedly fled on foot, but was arrested shortly after hiding under a bed in a home on Merrie Drive.
A criminal complaint has since been filed for the second suspect in the case, Ellis Edwards, of Latonia.
