Water main rupture at JCSU causes reduced water pressure

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Officials at Johnson C. Smith University say classes will go on as scheduled after a water main rupture.

The water line serving the northeast section of the campus started leaking Thursday night, according to a release from the school.

The leak is local to New Residence Hall area next to the trash receptor area.

New Residence Hall, Greenfield and Carter halls currently have no water while Duke Library and the Student Union have reduced water pressure. Liston Hall, Mosaic Village, and Sanders Hall are unaffected.

Cafeteria hours were temporarily changed for Friday:

  • Continental breakfast extended through noon
  • Lunch from Noon-2 p.m.
  • Dinner at regular time

Working shower and bathroom facilities are available in the Irwin Belk Complex at the football stadium.
