Panther Jordan Gross is kicking for a cause

Posted: Updated:

Panthers General Manager Dave Gettleman has recently said that the team is interested in drafting an offensive or defensive lineman this week. If that does happen, Jordan Gross, an 11 year veteran, says he'd be more than willing to take on the mentor role.

"There is nothing I'd like better than to have a young guy come in as a tackle that I could teach him what I know, what I do well, what I do poorly," Gross said, adding, "Just try to teach that player, to learn to be a pro as quickly as possible. When it's time for em to be done here, know that that position is in good hand".

While the Panthers front office is gearing up for the NFL Draft April 25 to April 27, Gross, and team-mates, are lacing up for some Kickball.

This is all for a great cause, "Kick CF with Jordan Gross", benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The kickball game is Saturday, April 27, at 3 p.m., at Providence High School. Fans can begin to arrive at 1:30 p.m.

Panther stars like Steve Smith, DeAngelo Williams, and Cam Newton will be on-hand for the Joes vs. Pros kickball game.

Sponsored teams, the "Joes", will participate in a double-elimination kickball tournament. The winning team of the tournament will take on an all-star celebrity team, the "Pros" for the crown.

Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects nearly 30,000 children and adults in the United States. Jordan and his wife Dana feel that it's critical to raise awareness in the Charlotte community. Jordan's niece Brooklyn was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis shortly after birth in 2005.
