Mayor Anthony Foxx removed Shawn Dorsch as the head of the city's Airport Advisory Committee late Tuesday.
The announcement comes following a day where members of city council grilled Dorsch about how much he knew and the discussions he had been having with state lawmakers in recent years about changing the governance structure of Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
"For weeks, it has been my judgment that you represent a vocal, largely invisible minority supportive of changing our airport governance model," the mayor said in his letter to Dorsch. "This action is not taken to punish you for your views. I take this action to uphold the integrity of the AAC and the role committees play in our system, which is to advise the City Council."
WBTV spoke with City Councilman Michael Barnes, who agreed with Foxx's decision.
"We expect people to actually work with us to help us improve Charlotte. Not to evade questions and avoid accountability," Barnes said.
