U.S. News and World Report has released its list of the Best High Schools in America, and Ohio's top three are in the Cincinnati area.

Walnut Hills, Wyoming and Indian Hill were ranked 1-3 as the best high schools in Ohio. Walnut Hills ranked 87th nationally, Wyoming 98th and Indian Hill 134th.

U.S. News teamed up with Washington, D.C.-based American Institutes for Research (AIR) and analyzed 21,035 public high schools in 49 states and the District of Columbia. This is the total number of public high schools that had 12th-grade enrollment and sufficient data from the 2010-2011 school year to analyze.

Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on state proficiency standards and how well they prepare students for college.

Schools were also ranked by state. Sycamore was ranked 14th in Ohio, Madeira as 16th, Turpin as 21st, Kings as 23rd, Lakota East as 34th and Mason as 35th. All of these schools also ranked in the top 1,000 schools in America. To view the complete Ohio list, click here.

In Kentucky, Beechwood was ranked sixth best in the state, Ryle was 9th and Williamstown was 11th. For Kentucky's list, click here.
