CONCORD, NC (WBTV) -

The Dollar General NHRA Four Wide Nationals are underway through the weekend at the zMAX Dragway in Concord, and as with any event that draws a large crowd, security is in place.

Concord Police, the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol are all providing security through the weekend.  The track has its own security, and track officials are also in contact with state and federal authorities.

Fans coming to the dragway should note that any bags or backpacks will be searched at the entrance gates, and that could mean slight delays as fans enter the grandstands.

Matthew Miles and his family, including his wife and sons, ages 2 and 6, came to Concord from West Virginia for the activities at zMAX Dragway.

"We feel safe," Miles told WBTV.  "It's just one of those things you just don't really pay attention to, you just come and have fun."
