Police looking for man who tried to take woman from grocery store


Police in Kannapolis are asking the public for help in finding a man they say tried to kidnap a woman in a Food Lion parking lot.

The incident was reported on Wednesday at 9:45 p.m. in the Food Lion parking lot on the 2800 block of North Cannon Boulevard, according to a news release from the Kannapolis Police Department.

Police say the victim, an employee at the store, was walking out of the store to help a man carry groceries to his vehicle.

When they got to the car, the man grabbed her and tried to force her inside his vehicle, according to the release.

The victim was able to pull away from the man and went back inside the grocery store.

The man left the area.

The suspect is described as a white male around 65 years of age with white hair and standing approximately six feet tall.

He was wearing a black suit and possibly driving a gold colored Buick with duct tape on the passenger side mirror, police say.
