A pair of Indiana men have been arrested following an alleged crime spree that began in Ripley County.
On Jan. 31 at around 3:10 a.m., the Batesville Police responded to an armed
robbery at Huck's gas station. Later that same day, at approximately 7:15 p.m.,
the Ripley County Sheriff's Office responded to another armed robbery at
Youngman's Marathon in Napoleon. The suspect was armed with a handgun in both
cases and got away with an undisclosed amount of money.
On Feb. 7, a similar armed robbery occurred at the Village Pantry in
Then, on Friday, April 5, the Decatur County Sheriff's Office arrested Carl
"C.J." Moore, 21 of Newpoint, after he attempted to rob the Newpoint Food Mart.
He was also charged with robbing the same food mart on March 12.
After spending several weeks following up on multiple leads and serving
numerous search warrants, the Ripley County Prosecutor charged Moore with two counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Jesse Sparks was charged with two counts of armed robbery and two counts of theft.
Moore remains in
the Decatur County Jail while Jesse Sparks is incarcerated in Ripley County.
Sparks has also been charged with Armed Robbery and Theft in Rush County.
The investigation continues and more charges could be filed.
