Southwest Airlines lands in Charlotte

Southwest Airlines officially kicked off its service at Charlotte Douglas International Airport on Monday morning.

Southwest began operations out of Charlotte with non-stop flights to Houston, Baltimore, Orlando and Chicago on Sunday

More flights will be added in the upcoming weeks.

The addition of Southwest Airlines to the airport is a result of the airline's merger with airTran  which was completed last year.

The company already flies in and out of 79 other airports across the country, including Raleigh-Durham here in North Carolina.
