We've seen several days of beautiful weather in the Charlotte area now, but severe weather could roll in Thursday evening.

WBTV Meteorologist Ashley Batey is looking ahead to severe weather that could start after sunset. There may be showers or a stray storm in the afternoon, but afternoon models are showing isolated severe storms popping up from 7-8 p.m.

There is also a potential for overnight storms. Just after 2 p.m. Thursday, models are showing a prefrontal line of storms moving in between 1 and 3 a.m. followed by the actual front possibly between 4 and 5 a.m.

Ashley says the threat with Thursday's severe weather is most likely to come from strong, damaging straight-line winds.

The storm could also produce large hail. There is a chance of an isolated tornado threat.

The severe weather is expected to move out early Friday.
