CHESTER COUNTY, SC (WBTV) -

The Chester County Sheriff's Office is investigating after they say a 23-year-old woman ran over her one-year-old daughter while attempting to fix her vehicle.

According to a Sheriff's report, deputies were called to the Chester Regional Medical Center on Wednesday just before 1 p.m.

When they arrived, deputies spoke with 23-year-old Amber Johnson who told them she had been working on her 1999 Dodge Durango, when she started to drive the SUV to the other side of her home, to get to the water hose.

Johnson told officers that she left the hood of the vehicle in the "up" position.

That's when deputies say she struck her one-year-old daughter with the SUV, knocking her down.

The impact caused the young girl to "fall to the ground and under the vehicle," the report states. "[Johnson] continued to drive until she heard people yelling at her."

The young girl was rushed to the hospital.  She suffered a broken right arm and scrape and burn marks on her stomach area.

Medical personnel then airlifted the little girl to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte for further treatment.

The case is under investigation.
