NOW: Children still buried underground as rescue mission turns to recovery

It's Monday, April 8. It's Christine Nelson, writing you this quick note on the a story that has shaken a community in our area. Make sure to tune in the WBTV News This Morning on the air and streaming live on the web from 4:30-7:00 a.m.

No sign yet of trapped children

NOW: We have a crew live on the ground right now in Stanley as emergency teams continue to search for two children they fear are dead. Late last night the rescue turned into a recovery mission. Our team is on standby at the scene getting the latest word from crews there on their efforts. Here are the main details we know so far:

*The two children were at a construction site where a home was being built.

*The dirt walls of the basement collapsed on them.

*The children are cousins. A six-year-old girl and seven-year-old boy.

Sky 3 will be in the air and we'll be bringing you live pictures of what the rescue mission looks like at this hour. Be sure to stay with us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/WBTVNews) and follow me on Twitter (@ChristineWBTV3) for the latest updates.

See you on the air,

Christine
