Local church turns 100

A local church is celebrating, as Sunday April 7th marks their 100th anniversary.

The Central United Methodist Church on Albemarle Road in Charlotte is holding a special service Sunday at 10:30am to mark the occasion.

A former minister, Oscar Dowdle Jr., who served at the church from 1971-1976, will be the guest preacher at the celebratory worship service.

Following the service, the church will have a celebration including a video, a catered meal and exhibits including historical documents.

The church lost many of it's historical documents in a fire back in 2008.

The Church which was originally at Central and Hawthorne, but moved to Albemarle Road back in 1969.
