An accident Saturday morning in Huntersville left one dead and two injured.
Huntersville fire department reported that the accident happened on the 12000 block of Hagers Ferry Rd if front of the McGuire Nuclear Station.
Lt. Foley with Charlotte Mecklenburg Police told WBTV News that the accident involved a truck pulling a horse trailer and a sedan.
The Truck, a Ford Super Duty pulling a horse trailer was heading east bound on 73 when a 2006 Honda Accord driven by 35 year old Kristy Renee Miller crossed over the double yellow lines and struck the truck head on.
Miller was pronounced deceased at the scene by medic and the 5 month old baby who was also in the car, but safely secured in a child seat was taken to Presbyterian with non-life threatening injuries.
According to a Police press release the driver of the Ford Super Duty Anne Carter Jones tried to steer away from the car which came at her head on.
Lt. Foley attributed the infants minor injuries to the fact the baby was in a child safety seat.
Carter was taken to CMC main and suffered only minor injuries.
Authorities closed Highway 73 heading into Lincoln County for a number of hours while they cleared the scene and investigators pieced together what happened.
It is not known at this time if the infant was related to Miller.
