The man accused of killing his girlfriend's parents in a violent attack was in court on Friday morning.

Shawn Eric Ford, Jr., 18, is charged with murder, robbery and grand theft in connection with this incident. He did not enter a plea, and his bond was set at $2M cash.

Police say Ford beat Jeffrey and Margaret Schobert to death with a sledgehammer inside their New Franklin home.

The couple was found murdered in their Rex Lake Drive home Tuesday afternoon by a construction crew.  The Schobert's had been dead in the home for several hours.

The Schobert's daughter, Chelsea had been attacked a couple weeks prior to their attack.  Akron Police had arrested Jamayne Ruiz in connection with that assault, but he's since been released and charges against him have been dropped.

Akron Police have now charged Ford with felonious assault in connection with that incident.

Chelsea Schobert was attacked on the night of March 23, inside a house in the 1400 block of Andrus Street in Akron. Schobert suffered a skull fracture and several stab wounds.

We are getting a clearer picture now on the timing and arrival of rain for our First Alert Days Monday and Tuesday. We want to emphasize there is no severe weather threat this week, but just don't want anybody to get caught off guard by the heavy rain after such a beautiful weekend.
