Misplaced briefcase forces evacuation at Charlotte Amtrak Station

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A misplaced briefcase led to the evacuation of the Charlotte Amtrak Station Monday morning.

Hazmat crews from the Charlotte Fire Department responded around 10 a.m. to 1914 N. Tryon Street.

The station was evacuated for about an hour.

No injuries were reported, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

The Amtrak Piedmont, train #73 was estimated to arrive into the station at 10:08 a.m. but was held just north of the station while emergency crews cleared the scene.
