The Twelve In Twelve Foundation 12k weekend


The Twelve In Twelve Foundation 12K starts Saturday night at 7 p.m.

There will also be a 1.2 fun run, and an Easter Egg Hunt fun for the entire family.

The Charlotte-based organization was started by single dad J.D. Lewis after taking his two sons, Jackson and Buck, to 12 countries in 12 months back in 2011-2012.  

Twelve in Twelve, is using this 12K Trail Race to help fund its project at Mwiko School in Northern Rwanda. Founder J.D. Lewis and his sons worked in the school in 2012. Funds will be used to help build new desks, purchase supplies such as books, paper, pens and pencils, composition books, and fund the building of a community center and lending library. The trail race will will be hosted at the U.S. National Whitewater Center.

The organization's current projects are in Haiti, Rwanda and Thailand.

Registration fee is $45 for 12K, $25 for 1.2 Fun Run and Easter Egg Hunt.
