Report: Woman assaulted trooper with box cutter

A woman in Fort Mill was arrested Thursday after she assaulted a trooper with South Carolina Highway Patrol with a box cutter, according to the Fort Mill Police Department.

Pamela Koon, 46, was walking along Highway 160 near Fort Mill when a State Highway Emergency worker stopped to ask if she needed assistance. That's when, officials said, she pulled out the box cutter, and the worker called Highway Patrol.

When the first trooper arrived, Koon had made her way towards the parking lot of Lowe's Home Improvement, where she again pulled out the box cutter, and assaulted the trooper.

Fort Mill Police arrived to assist the trooper, who at that time was holding Koon at taser point. The officers pulled their weapons and demanded that she drop the weapon, the report states.

Koon was uncooperative, and told officers, "Stay away or I will hurt you, I don't know who you are."

A second SCHP Trooper then approached Koon from behind and was able to knock the box cutter from her hand before she was secured and placed in handcuffs, deputies said.

Koon, who later told officers she was homeless, was arrested and charged with third degree assault and battery and placed under a $1,000 bond.
