Coolidge man convicted of sexual assault, kidnapping

Dakota Blake Williams, 23 Dakota Blake Williams, 23

A serial rapist has been convicted in Pinal County and now faces decades behind bars.

Pinal County Attorney Lando Voyles said Thursday a jury found Dakota Blake Williams, 23, of Coolidge, guilty on seven out of eight charges.

Prosecutors said Williams sexually assaulted two people within a one-month span.

Voyles said Williams offered a ride to a Coolidge man, dressed as a woman, on Jan. 27 and on Feb. 17, Williams picked up a 32-year-old woman needing a ride from Casa Grande to Phoenix. The woman claimed the attacker called himself "William."

Authorities said in both cases, Williams picked up the victims, drove them to a remote desert location, sexually assaulted them, and left them.

Authorities said a tip led investigators to Williams and a search warrant was executed.

Pinal County Sheriff's officials said Williams was arrested in Casa Grande in March, days after the release of a composite sketch of the suspect wanted for questioning.

"Although Williams claimed both incidents were consensual, driving to the middle of nowhere, wielding a knife, and demanding sex falls drastically short of any measure of consent," Voyles said.
