LINCOLN COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

A traffic stop in Lincoln County turned up nearly a half kilo of cocaine, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies spotted a possible traffic violation on Highway 16 Business near Sugarwood Lane in Denver shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday. They pulled the vehicle over, and detained the three people in the vehicle after they began acting suspicious, the report states.

The deputies then requested permission to search the vehicle.

After receiving consent to search, deputies found 496 grams of cocaine, valued at between $18,000 and $100,000 depending on how it is packaged and sold.

The passenger in the vehicle, Damarius Corday Miller, 26, of Catawba, was charged with one felony count each of trafficking in cocaine by transport, trafficking in cocaine by possession, and conspiracy to trafficking cocaine.

The driver of the car, Mairo Reco Danner, 26, of Claremont, was charged with one felony count each of trafficking in cocaine by transport, trafficking in cocaine by possession, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, and conspiracy to traffic in cocaine.

The third person in the vehicle, an unnamed female, was turned over to a law enforcement agency in an adjacent county, deputies told WBTV.

Narcotics Division Investigators say the amount of cocaine was a significant amount for a routine traffic stop.  They praised the patrol division for being proactive and taking the illegal drugs off the street, adding, "It's just not the type of seizure you see every day."

Miller and Danner were taken to the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center and placed under a $300,000 secured bond each.
