Charlotte residents want change after recent club shootings

Good morning it's Wednesday, March 27. This is Christine Nelson. I wanted to send this email before I get ready to go on air to let you know about the stories making headlines right now. We're on from 4:30-7:00 a.m. So turn on your televisions or you can watch our live stream online on your phone, tablet or computer.

LIVE: Two violent shootings are the reason there was a standing room only meeting in one Charlotte neighborhood. The most frustrating part for Wesley Heights residents is the fact that their neighborhood has become a lot safer in the last 10 years. Now this. We'll tell you about the changes they want to see. WBTV's Cam Man Ron Lee has reaction.

A high-profile four-star general has been silent about his affair with a Charlotte author...until now. We have sound from the speech General David Petraeus gave at a college where he openly speaks about the hurt he caused over his affair with Paula Broadwell.

We're looking ahead to the major announcement from the Appalachian State University athletics program. What officials will reveal is probably the worst kept secret based on the speculation already out there. We'll explain.

Plus, there has been a growing issue for some businesses looking to hire: They can't find qualified applicants! WBTV's Astrid Martinez will tell you how some local companies are banding together to provide training.

**ALERT** Some school districts in the mountains facing another dicey weather day. Avery, Mitchell, and Yancey county schools are CLOSED today. Ashe and Watauga county schools are both on a 2 hour DELAY. BUT...that could change as we get further into the morning hours so make sure you're staying connected with us so we can keep you updated.

It's time for me to go now! We'll see you on the air.
