Hardin leaves Porter Ridge for Freedom

Big high school football news as Porter Ridge head coach Blair Hardin has resigned to take over as the head coach at Freedom.

Coach Hardin spent 5 years at Porter Ridge and went 50-18 during his tenure.

It would be hard to top the last 3 years with the Pirates.  The program would go 40-5 and won 3 straight Southern Carolina Conference titles.  During that time they would make it to 3 straight 4A western regional final games and the past 2 seasons were the 4A state runners up.

Before Hardin got to Porter Ridge, the Pirates went 4-29 in their first 3 years of existence.

WBTV talked to coach today and he said it has been a long, tough day and he hates to leave the community, the kids, and the school of Porter Ridge, but Freedom was a opportunity he couldn't pass up.

He goes to a Freedom program that has enjoyed its best years of football the last 3 seasons.  The Patriots are 32-6 during that time.  They are coming off a season where they won the most games in a single season with 12 and made it to the 3A western regional finals.
