Cops: Baby pistol-whipped in head twice in SC

GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) -

Police in South Carolina are investigating three suspects after an 11-month-old boy was pistol-whipped during an armed robbery.

According to an incident report, the assault happened in the parking lot of the Dollar General located at 205 North Goose Creek Boulevard just before 8 p.m.

The report states a 19-year-old was trying to sell an iPad she had posted on Craigslist, and had brought her 11-month-old son along for the transaction. The 19-year-old told police the buyer refused to pay, and actually demanded money.

When she refused, the teen told police the suspect moved to the rear driver's side door of the vehicle, where her baby was seated in a car seat.

The suspect then asked her again for money, and she told him "the baby sure won't give it to you." The man then hit the baby twice on the head with a pistol before walking to his vehicle and leaving the scene, the report states.

The teen saw blood coming from the child's head and believed that he was having a seizure, she told police.

The baby was taken to Medical University of South Carolina for treatment. His condition is unknown.

Investigators say they believe the male suspect did not act alone, and two other suspects are being investigated.
