MESA, AZ (CBS5) -
A Mesa man was arrested and charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Christopher Clark, 54, is accused of downloading a substantial amount of child porn from Limewire, a peer-to-peer file sharing program. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office was notified by a monitoring company out of Pennsylvania.
When MCSO arrived to issue a search warrant early Tuesday morning, Clark was not surprised.
Sgt. Brandon Jones of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said Clark told police, "'I know what you guys are here for. Here's the computer. Here's what I've been doing. I've got several hundred files on my computer plus all these CD's on my desk.'"
During October 2012 and February 2013, more than 900 files were shared, captured from the I.P. address on Clark's computer, according to MCSO. The files contained pictures and videos of young children engaged in sexual activity with adults.
"He did indicate he was attracted to girls and boys ages 10 to 16 years of age, various different sex acts, as well as bestiality," said Jones.
Clark admitted the files on the computer found in his home were his and that he can't stop looking at them, even after he said his wife caught him six months ago.
"He even admitted he had burned several CD's in his backyard after he thought his wife found out about his addiction," said Jones. But Clark told detectives one week after he destroyed part of his collection, he started downloading again.
Clark's wife is a former preschool teacher and had been running an in-home daycare.
"She watches neighborhood children as well as her grandchildren at this house, so the concern to us, was he physically touching these children inappropriately," explained Jones.
There seems to be no indication of that, according to MCSO, but the investigation is ongoing.
It is not clear if Clark's wife actually knew of his alleged criminal activity. He told detectives she did, but so far, MCSO says she has not confirmed that.
She did continue to run the daycare until Wednesday, when she terminated all babysitting services as a condition of Clark's release and return to their home.
He is under house arrest and wears an electronic monitoring device on his ankle.
His next court appearance is scheduled for March 26.
