Weycker resigns as head coach at West Iredell

STATESVILLE, NC (WBTV) -

Long time West Iredell head football coach Mark Weycker has resigned after 26 seasons.

Weycker came to West in 1987 and turned the Warriors into a very competitive program during his tenure.

In 12 of his 26 season, the Warriors finished with a .500 or better record. 

But last season, the Warriors went 1-9 after an injury riddled season. 

Weycker won't be leaving the school as he will stay on as athletic director.
