A teenager was arrested for an attempted murder and robbery, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

On Sunday, just before 4:30 p.m., officers responded to W. Sugar Creek Road at the Sugaw Creek Park in reference to a male victim that was shot.

Once on scene, officers located a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medic transported the victim to Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries, officials said.

Detectives with the Robbery Unit and Crime Scene Search responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and were able to determine that the victim was shot while he was being robbed.

A white Pontiac SUV was also seen fleeing the scene, the report states.

The Violent Criminal Apprehension Team was contacted to assist with locating the suspect, and was quickly able to track him to the Canterwood Drive area, where they located the suspect vehicle.

A short time later, the suspect, identified as Jango Touray, 18, returned to the vehicle and was subsequently taken into custody with the assistance of CMPD K-9.

Touray has been charged with attempted murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and resist, obstruct and delay and has been transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office where officers say he will remain in custody.
