Police: Brothers arrested after kicking, robbing man at gunpoint

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Two teenage brothers have been arrested for an armed robbery in east Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

The robbery happened Friday just before 10 p.m. on Dunlavin Way, near Eastway Drive.

The victim told police the teens, later identified as Rico Billings, 19, and Tyler Billings, 16, approached him and demanded his money and cell phone. The victim then dropped to the ground, and the duo began to kick him and take his wallet from his pocket before leaving the area on foot, officials said.

A description of the robbers was broadcast to officers in the field, and the brothers were located and identified a short time later on Eastway Drive. Evidence and information gathered during the investigation identified them as the ones involved in the robbery, police told WBTV.

Both were arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit armed robbery with a dangerous weapon.
