LINCOLNTON, NC (WBTV) -
A Denver man has been arrested in connection with the rape of a child.
Jeffrey Marshall Sempler, 58, of Denver, was charged Friday with one felony count each of second degree rape, second degree sexual offense, and indecent liberties with a child, according to a news release from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.
Sempler is also charged with two other sex related crimes.
The victim, who is now an adult, told Lincoln County Sheriff's detectives that the abuse occurred more than eight years ago when the suspect lived in Denver.
Investigation into the incident is continuing by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.
Sempler is being held in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond.
