An Upstate father is accused of getting into his truck and trying to run over his son.
Gene Land Jr. of Abbeville County was charged with aggravated assault and child abuse.
Abbeville County deputies said Monday afternoon Land was seen trying to run his son over in his Dodge Ram truck, who was on his bike in the family's yard.
Deputies said two witnesses also saw Land hit the child, dragging him back to the truck in what one of the witnesses said was a "full nelson."
"I couldn't believe it happen. I was shocked to see this grown man hitting a child and that's when I called police," said neighbor Kenny Stone.
Deputies said Land took his son to a local hospital and that's where he was arrested. They also said they found blood in Land's front yard and on the front steps of their home.
Land is out of jail on bond.
