CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -
Emergency officials are investigating after a woman and her two young sons were hit by a tow truck early Tuesday morning.
According to MEDIC, crews responded to the 2500 block of North Tryon Street at about 7:40 a.m.
Officials with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said one of the young boys is believed to be 4 or 5 years old. He suffered only minor injuries and is expected to be OK.
The older boy is believed to be 7 or 8-years-old. He suffered major injuries, CMPD officials told WBTV, and had to be rushed to Carolinas Medical Center-Main to be treated for his injuries.
The woman also suffered major injuries and was rushed to CMC-Main, as well.
Police shut down several lanes during the investigation.
Investigators said the family was not using a crosswalk and no charges are expected against the driver.
