Report: Hospital helicopter nurse charged with assaulting coworker

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A Huntersville man who works with the helicopter unit at a Charlotte hospital is facing charges after he reportedly assaulted a female coworker.

Forty-four-year-old Robert Clint Darby was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with assault. He was booked in the Mecklenburg County jail at 12:04 a.m. Sunday morning.  Two hours later he was released on a $1,500 bond.

According to a spokesman for Carolinas HealthCare System, Darby is employee of MedCenter Air which is a part of Carolinas HealthCare System.

Darby reportedly assaulted a female coworker in Mecklenburg County, but the details about the assault have not been released.

Sources told WBTV that Darby is a nursing manager. He remains employed by Carolinas HealthCare System.

CHS says it is aware of the charge against Darby and is cooperating with police as they continue their investigation. 

He is set to be in a Mecklenburg County courtroom on Tuesday afternoon.
