CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have arrested a man they say is responsible for a burglary after an alert neighbor called 911.

On Thursday, March 7, at approximately 11 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to a residential breaking and entering call for service at a home on Ridge Valley Drive.

A witness called 911 to report seeing a man leaving his neighbor's home carrying a flat screen television, after breaking in to the residence, the report states.

Officers immediately arrived on the scene and were able to locate the man a short time later on Westridge Drive.

The witness was taken to the scene of the apprehension and positively identified Frederick Devon Hood, 33, as the person involved in the break-in.

Hood was arrested and charged with breaking and entering and larceny.

Deputies said a rapid patrol response and an alert neighbor willing to call 911 were critical elements in this quick apprehension.

Anyone with additional information concerning this case and or suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704.334.1600.
