CMPD investigates robbery and shooting

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Armed Robbery Unit and ADW Unit are conducting an investigation into an assault with a deadly weapon at the intersection of Marlbrook Drive and Coach Hill Lane.  

Independence Division patrol officers responded to a call for service in reference to a subject shot on Marlbrook Drive.  

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  

The victim was transported by Medic to CMC where he is currently listed in stable condition.  

Detectives determined this incident is related to a robbery call for service that occurred just a short time before the shooting.  

Hickory Grove Division patrol officers responded to an armed robbery from person call for service at the 5900 block of Farm Pond Lane.  

The victim from the shooting on Marlbrook Drive had witnessed the robbery and located the suspect vehicle on Marlbrook. 

The suspect then shot the victim and fled the scene in a black, 4-door Honda Accord with South Carolina tags.      

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.

Detectives with the Robbery Unit are canvassing the neighborhood to determine whether there are any witnesses to this incident.  

The investigation is ongoing.
