A woman is facing charges today after a deadly crash in north Charlotte this weekend.
Investigators with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department say the driver of an SUV drove left of the double yellow line on Mallard Creek Road Sunday afternoon, and hit a Saturn head-on.
There were four children in the SUV, ages 7, 9, 11, and 12.
A witness told WBTV the SUV went airborne, flipped twice, and landed on its hood. She said the children climbed out of the SUV into her arms. She also told WBTV some people in the Saturn had to be cut out of the car.
The driver of the Saturn, 39-year-old Zaida Esther Concepcion, was killed. Two passengers in the Saturn were seriously hurt.
The driver of the SUV, 38-year-old Lasonya Denise Thompson, was arrested and charged with Misdemeanor Death by Vehicle, and No Liability Insurance. She was released Sunday evening.
Thompson and the children were taken to the hospital, but are expected to be OK.
